shit, I've been laughing for ten minutes. My regards to whoever is in charge of the header.
Have a car thing that I work on.

I miss those now that I'm almost always on mobile.

Damn you, now I can't stop laughing.

As a new parent I took it as an omen and laughed as well.

is there an fsae class that allows this much aero? What's up there?

The aero restrictions are different each year. No aeronautic engineers on the team this year so we won't be running with an aero package, sadly :(

FSAE used to have very lax aero rules. This is actually a pretty tame example of an aero package. Look up GFR 2014 or MRacing 2014 to see extreme examples of aero kits which ultimately resulted in the present aero rule changes.

I feel your pain. We only have 1 aero engineer on the team. Our aero package this year is being developed mainly by mechanical engineers but we are doing formula hybrid so the rules are a little more free.

Here's the car thing I worked on my senior year...
First year we had aero. My Senior Design team worked on it.
Edit: Yes, the header is absolutely hilarious. I read it wrong right away, but checked again and couldn't stop laughing. Also fixed spelling.

Damn, I never realized they allowed that much. That's pretty awesome actually.

Bummer. Aero is a crazy subject, I can't imagine it is very easy for a team to get a proper design going, since you really end up needing time in the tunnel to really verify designs.

I remember my first time doing carbon fiber.
Missing the punch line about the header though.

FSAE was one of the best experiences of my college life for sure. Do you get to drive it at least for testing? I got to do a test run but bottomed it out when I apparently caught air in our backstreet we used for testing. We had down force but I am loving your front splitter, ours wasn't that complex. I can hear it now, all the talk about droop and bump, cooling, the intake needing to be tuned, ah the days...

Well, I'm not a driver yet. First I have to prove to them I can drive manual, but that means I have to find someone who will let me autocross their car without them being in it (the passenger has to be someone from FSAE), then I drive a 4 year old FSAE car, then that car that's pictured.
And we drive them at the autocrosses around here. The same ones JayhawkJake goes to.

Those wheels look identical to the ones UT-Arlington uses, are they off-the-shelf or do you guys buy them from UTA?

I honestly have no idea. I'm electronics/tuning, and we haven't really *done* much yet this year.

i see, I was never the competition driver, but we got chances to drive around a tad.
Isn't that Wichita? I'm only a couple of hours away.. but winter is coming

Yup, it's Wichita.
